Boudoir cabinet card photograph of California’s most celebrated stagecoach robber, the “gentleman bandit”known as Black Bart. Extremely scarce photographers’ mark, “Taber - Elevator / 8 Montgomery Street, / Opposite the Palace and Grand Hotels, / San Francisco. Over.”, On obverse, notations about copies. Clear sharp image on oversize card (8 1/2” x 5 1/4”), image is 7 3/4” x 4 7/8”.
Small crease on middle left not affecting the image. Circa 1883
